SNAIL MUCIN
Snail mucin or snail secretion filtrate as labeled on all commercial snail serums is the secretion from a snail. Snail mucin is naturally created by snails for protection, hydration and lubrication for locomotion and to cling onto surfaces. The use of snail mucin dates back to Ancient Greece but it has been made popular by being the most iconic ingredient in K-beauty.
Research suggests that the essential chemicals present in snail mucin works wonders for our skin.
- Plumping: The high levels of collagen and elastin present in snail mucin can help improve firmness and elasticity as the skin begins to age. The presence of glycolic acid in this mucin further accelerates the promotion of collagen for younger, firmer skin.
- Moisturization: As the slimy appearance of snail mucin may have clued you in, it can work miracles for restoring dry, dehydrated skin. The presence of hyaluronic acid offers lasting hydration, making the skin supple and smooth.
- Exfoliation: The glycolic acid in snail mucin works on smoothing out rough patches by gently exfoliating dead skin cells away from the surface.
ARGININE
A vital amino acid that stimulates collagen production and protects the skin from free radical damage and premature skin aging. It also helps repair visible skin damage. It is currently one of the most popular and well-regarded skincare ingredients in K-beauty.
SODIUM HYALURONATE (HYALURONIC ACID)
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan (long unbranched polysaccharide) usually found in our connective tissues. It is the main component of what gives our skin structure and that bounce, soft and hydrated look.
Research suggests it helps with soft tissue growth, prompts your body to make more collagen and elastin, keeps your skin moisturized, prevents tightness, boosts elasticity, and reduces scarring.
