How Does Perimenopause & Menopause Change Our Skin?
Skin changes are common during perimenopause and menopause. In fact, it would be uncommon for a woman not to go through skin changes during this phase. Menopausal skin can lead to a whole host of skin concerns such as:

Why Does Menopause Cause Dry, Dehydrated and Itchy Skin?
The cause is primarily due to a sharp decline in estrogen levels.
Estrogen is a powerhouse hormone that stimulates sebaceous (oil) glands to produce sebum, the oily substance that helps keep the skin lubricated and protected. As estrogen drops during menopause, sebum production decreases, leading to drier skin.
Estrogen also promotes the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, which provide structure and hydration.
